The WOW Suite at W London – Leicester Square
With its cutting-edge design, translucent glass façade with interactive lighting installations and signature über-chic attitude, W Hotels have arrived in London with a serious bang. The opulent WOW Suites at this new Leicester Square icon may set you back a couple of thousand pounds a night but they’re possibly the city’s most lavishly stylish bedrooms – that is of course until we see pictures of the currently under-wraps £5,000 a night E WOW Suite, complete with a circular sofa centrepiece that dazzles under a mirror ball sculpture, 4 person shower and 62inch TV screen in the bathroom…
Townhouse Apartment at The Zetter Townhouse
The Zetter Hotel’s new baby sister is the utterly fabulous The Zetter Townhouse and I was lucky enough to stay in the Townhouse Apartment whilst reviewing the just-opened, eclectic cocktail lounge with rooms for We Heart. The majestically elegant suite boasts a Sonos sound system, freestanding bath, Nespresso machine and lavish lounge area – it’s also just upstairs from one of London’s most exciting and decidedly original new bars…
‘East London’ themed rooms at Hoxton Hotel
With a low-cost airline style pricing system – book early for best prices – regular £1 sales, inclusive Pret Breakfasts and an empty minibar with shop priced beverages for sale in the reception, you’d think Shoreditch’s Hoxton Hotel would be some horror show pod-hostel. It’s not. It is however one of London’s coolest destinations. Polished concrete, exposed brick, bustling bar and super-cool Hoxton Grill Restaurant are at odds with the ‘budget’ tag, and their 3 new East London themed rooms – each by a different designer – perfectly sum-up the hotel’s dedication to cutting-edge design…
The Penthouse at The Sanderson
The iconic Philippe Starck designed Sanderson opened its doors in the year 2000 and has maintained its status as the capital’s coolest hotel ever since. Starck’s surrealist decor – art pieces thrown together with designer furniture and the muted tones and layers of curtains that have shaped the appearance of design hotels for the last decade – dominates the lavish penthouse, a dreamlike two-bedroom suite that, at times, can seem more gallery installation than hotel room…
The Square at Malmaison
The London outpost of the UK’s most decadent hotel chain sits on the beautiful Charterhouse Square in stylish, foodie haven Clerkenwell. The signature suite, The Square, is the crème de la crème at this decidedly provocative boutique hotel – slip into the huge, wooden bathtub then stretch out on the suite’s huge sofa…
Suites at the York & Albany
You may think the two suites that overlook Regent’s Park are the jewels in the York & Albany crown but, being a Gordon Ramsay hotel, there’s also a first-class restaurant, slick bar with cocktails and pizzas, beautiful deli and 3 course picnics to enjoy in the park, that could persuade you to leave your elegant, antique laden apartment…

Loft Suite at Sanctum Soho Hotel
Whether or not Iron Maiden and/or other rock stars are involved in the financing/running of Soho’s Sanctum – there’s been some mixed reports in the national press – its location, and that their smallest rooms – the “Crash Pads” – offer “a welcome retreat for the fast and furious”, ensure that the Sanctum Soho lives up to its unofficial title of London’s most rock and roll hotel. The opulent loft suite boasts two king bedrooms, two freestanding baths and two full ceiling rain shower rooms and opens onto the hotel’s super-stylish roof garden and residents’ bar – meaning the decadence is never far away…
The Rough Luxe Hotel
Small rooms, shared bathrooms – sometimes amenities aren’t everything and, as their ethos states, The Rough Luxe is a “little bit of luxury in a rough part of London. A little bit of rough in a luxurious London”. There are some rooms with en-suites, including one with a beautiful free-standing copper bath – but the emphasis here is heavily on design, and it’s a breathtaking experience. Part guesthouse, part art project – the Grade II listed King’s Cross house was transformed by acclaimed artist and designer Rabih Hage – all the rooms are a fusion of distressed walls, old and new furniture, and original contemporary artworks…
Charles & Ray Eames at Boundary
Having been overseen by Sir Terence Conran himself, this new Conran & Partners project – restaurant, food shop, bakery and rooms – was always going to have a designer’s edge to it. Each of the Boundary‘s 12 guest bedrooms are a homage to legendary designers or design movements and _theBrief’s favourite has to be the simply divine Charles & Ray Eames Room – if not just for the chance to kick back in the famous Eames Lounge Chair all day long…

De Montfort Suite at Town Hall Hotel
Gritty Bethnal Green’s Edwardian town hall is now a cutting-edge design hotel and in Viajante has one of London’s most desirable restaurants – helmed by rising star Nuno Mendes. In the De Montfort Suite it also has one of London’s most desirable hotel rooms – a breathtaking conversion of a magnificent public concert hall, with a triple height ceiling and all-glass room dividers. You’re right in the heart of London’s vibrant and cultural East-end but with a room like this, and that the suite comes complete with a state of the art kitchen – from which Mendes can prepare an exclusive tasting menu, you’ll almost certainly not step outside…

Right in the thick of thriving Soho is the Dean Street Townhouse, a recent addition to the decidedly hip Soho House Group, and already somewhat of a destination in itself – due, in no small part, to the hugely popular restaurant that’s littered with original works from some of Britain’s finest artists. The ‘bigger’ rooms are works of art in themselves, all muted hues, rich and luxurious furnishings and elegant free-standing bathtubs…
